K-2
I have included below some visual art projects that align with your art standards. I will post approximately one new project a week. You don't have to complete them in any certain order, but I would like for you to choose the activities that you would like to do first. If you can, please photograph your artwork and email to [email protected]. I miss your art!
Remember ... if you don't have the materials listed in the lesson, it's okay. Use what you've got at home!
Also, your submissions will be posted in our school Artsonia Gallery! You can order merchandise with your artwork on it or simply just share your artwork with family and friends.
People and a Dog by Joan Miro - Watch the video about Joan Miro's artwork here. Follow the lesson and create an automatic drawing showing a person and a dog. Use whatever drawing materials you have!
AWE Heart Quilt - You are invited to create a virtual square for our AWE Heart Quilt. You can use ANY material to create the heart. You could create a drawing, painting, sculpture, use natural materials (found objects), toys, recyclable materials, food, literally anything! Place your heart on a background…on paper, the ground, anywhere...snap a picture, and email it to me at [email protected] or send to me through Dojo. I will turn them into a virtual quilt!
Draw a fish using simple shapes! Also, what would the background look like? Add some details around the fish. Video (1.V.1 Use the language of visual arts to communicate effectively. 1.V.1.4 Understand characteristics of the Elements of Art, including lines, shapes, colors, textures, form, and space.)

Still Life - A still life is an artwork of objects that do not move on their own. Artists may draw a vase with flowers or a bowl of fruit. Check out Still Life with Basket of Fruit . Choose some objects at home (shoes, toys, coffee cup, etc.) to set up and draw (any kind of paper will do). Add color (crayon, markers, pens, paints) and remember to draw the table, wall, or surroundings to fill the paper. Send a photo to me if possible at [email protected].
Reflection: K-2 What shapes do you see as you draw the objects? What object is in front, middle, back? Did you draw any shapes overlapping? Share your responses with your family, or write them down on the back of the drawing.
